OUR MISSION:
To help people connect or reconnect with our Lord and build a lifetime of discipleship.(adopted Session 2005)
OUR VISION:
To be a community of believers that warmly welcomes and invites others into life-giving faith in Jesus Christ. We seek to shine the light of faith far and wide, living out the gospel in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, work places and world.
CORE PRACTICES:
This mission leads us to 6 core practices:
MORE ABOUT LIBERTY:
Liberty’s worship service is its heart and soul. We embrace an informal, contemporary worship style -- welcoming humor, applause and laughter -- supported by joyous music and a biblical and relevant message. We tell people to “come as they are.” Members comment that the service is inspirational, joyous and effective in helping them connect with God.
Music is one of Liberty's hallmarks. For many years, Sunday morning music has mixed traditional hymns, gospel music, folk, classical and contemporary styles, whether sung by the congregation or offered by skilled musicians.
In the last 6 years, Liberty has seen a large influx of young families. This has brought children to Liberty in increasing numbers, with 281 children registered between the age of newborn and fifth grade. Situated in the midst of a rapidly growing public school district, we are prioritizing spiritual growth for children and youth through our growing church school program and youth ministry.
We have an active mission program, supporting local, national and international missions. By Session policy, we allocate 10% of all offerings "off the top" to missions. In recent years, the Mission Committee has developed three international mission trips -- medical, dental and construction -- to Honduras in which families participate. The youth group participates in additional mission trips, working alongside people of need, serving individuals and groups in the community and neighboring states. We have a partnership church in inner-city Columbus which serves the homeless community.
